			This photo from 1973 shows a wooden "M" class model that has been converted to radio control. This model weighed over 20# with early RC gear installed. Competitive "M" class models today usually weigh less than 10# with RC gear today. Notice the bend in the two piece wooden mast. This boat was first built in the 1950's.

My first model, built in 1970, from a Sterling Models kit, 'The Emma C. Berry. The sails were tied off for a reach and the rudder was the only control. The radio was a two channel Orbit brand.

The photos to the left and below are of a restored model circa 1920's. The lower photo shows the early "Braine" type self steering gear. Other models below are also equiped with "Braine" steering gear.
